best way to 'weather' a gun

@ Hossa - Nitromors is a commercial caustic alkali paint stripper (normally used for stripping paint from doors and windows etc) that can be bought in any DIY store.

What kind of thinner did you try, Hossa? Different types of paint (Cellulose, acrylic, etc.) need different thinners.

i used universal thinner, i just translate the words in english so i dont know what kind exactly it is.
i use the wire brush now and it works for me :D cant wait to show the whole gun to you guys

I weathered my M16A1. I had the metal parts sand blasted and then I coated it with Birchwood Casey Aluminium Black (acid based). I then used wire wool on it until I achieved the desired effect. Even if you try to take it back to the bare metal this stuff actually turns the metal a dull grey colour.
